KH2Activision Blizzard CEO Robert Kotick threatened to pull support for both the PS3 and the PSP as early as 2010 today, because of the simple fact that Sony is losing money. Recently, Sony had reported the company’s first loss since 1995. In addition to that, the PS3’s high price point eventually convinced Kotick that the profit return on creating games for the PS3 isn’t as good as on other systems, like the Xbox 360. Kotick also says that the Wii and the Xbox 360 are selling better, and would much rather invest on games that generate more profit. He also points out that the PSP is not doing very well either.

However, despite the global economic crisis, Activision Blizzard is doing quite well, with a $189 million profit on revenues of $981 million during the January-March quarter. Guitar Hero continues to sell in nice numbers, so I guess Activision Blizzard just wants more money? They are technically not losing any profit right now; why discontinue support for the PS3? There are plenty of titles that are only PS3-exclusive that gamers would like to get their hands on.
